It is going to be hard having a high school reunioin without Danny.  One of "my best friends ever" through Corpus Christi and St Eds and Iowa Central and UNI and for each year thereafter until his death.  I was at his bedside in LeMars only a few weeks before he died...along with Dave Bischoff, Denny Reynolds, Dan Severson, Gary Baker, Father Bruce, and Father Bill, and two of our "public school buddies"...Joel Suhr and Greg Mains...all saying our goodbyes).  My best man at my first wedding (I had to "fire him" and choose another friend for my second wedding....Danny understood he was there at my second wedding as "my brother" instead).  Always fun to be around...cracking jokes....making up games...."roof ball", "I-ball", etc.  He knew the words to every "oldie", but could never carry a tune.  He married Carolyn, a great lady, who he met at UNI.  Carolyn teaches in LeMars Catholic schools.  Danny taught for a few years, but then went to work for the Social Security Administration, where he worked until his death....of cancer a few years ago.  Danny has two sons, both married.  Jay in Iowa City and Drew in LeMars....who gave Danny a grandson.  Danny loved to play golf and "be himself" wanted to be around him just as he was.....Danny was "fun"....Danny was "life".

I miss you terribly, Danny.  We just had our buddies weekend in Omaha (still second weekend of August) and many Danny stories.  Of course, you know this.....I'm sure you were watching....and you also know that Derb was the big winner this year....see how life throws us a change-up once in awhile!

I will love you always,

Jerry P.
